About Aliana

Aliana Liz Tavares has a B.A. in Journalism and a Certificate in Film Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

While in college, Tavares participated in making change and advocating for minority and marginalized community members like her as a Senator and Vice Chair in the UMass Amherst Student Government Association. She continued to support those in her communities through her writing and projects as Managing Editor at The Amherst Wire.

Post graduate, Tavares has freelanced written for The New Bedford Light and worked as a Community Judge for The New Bedford Film Festival—right in her hometown! Currently working in Education, she hopes to continue to support, give back and enhance her community in any way she can.
